In 1964, historian Lt. Col. Joseph B. Mitchell published a compact book, Twenty Decisive Battles of the World, an expansion of Sir Edward Creasy's most famous work from a hundred years past, updating it into the 20th Century.

Turning Point Simulations (TPS), a division of LPS Inc, examines these 20 battles with a new series of boxed wargames. These games emphasize accessibility and playability, and come with hard-mounted maps and mounted, die-cut counters. Each battle is presented in a design of low complexity, but high challenge, from some of the industry's top designers.

And be sure to check out our sister publication Against the Odds!

While TPS games focus on the decisive battles across time, Against the Odds magazine investigates all of military history from a broad perspective. The economic, political, religious and social aspects of warfare are examined in concert with events on the battlefield. Turning Point Simulations Wrap Up Report

Greetings from TPS!

The idea of producing a line of 20 games, matching the chapters of "20 Decisive Battles," by Mitchell & Creasy, struck most people as interesting and unusual... and unlikely to be finished.

Well, we finished. 20 Chapters. 20 Games. 13 different (and well respected) designers. And a beautiful look as a group. All games focused on easy entry, replay value, and a small footprint (but nicely mounted map.) It's a series we are proud to call our own.

Mission Accomplished. Bookshelf filled.

But we didn't stop at 20 games. We knew "20 Decisive Battles" book was finalized in 1964 and talked about what events had happened since then, which might have merited a "21st Chapter."  The choice was actually easy. Though the "battle" we picked had very little shooting involved, it could easily have spun out of control to become the LAST battle of all time.

So, it is with great pleasure we published and released Chapter 21 in the TPS series, WE ARE ALL MORTAL. This game looks at the Cuban Missile Crisis and was designed by Paul Rohrbaugh and graphically rendered by Mark Mahaffey (Terry Leeds on cover). Just look at all you get below:

We sent out this 21st game as a 'gift' last year to those who had collected the entire series directly from TPS. And we have a few of them left, to those who WANT to collect the entire series. Yes, you too can have ALL 21 (but for a limited time only and only while supplies of WAAM last)!

1.)  Anyone who wishes to start and collect the entire boxed TPS series now can still do so and also get WAAM as a freebie (plus all five of the “Pocket Battle Games” we released along the way, complete with die cut counters. See https://www.turningpointsimulations.com/pbg.cfm for details.). Simply chose 10 sets of the PICK 2 boxed games special offer as the quickest way and your best price to do so. (Makes for a great present to yourself for the New Year!)

2.)  Similarly, anyone who has already purchased a number of the boxed games directly from TPS to date can fill out their collection so as to have all 20 and then also get WAAM as a freebie. We have good records on direct purchases from TPS by customers on our database here so write us at sales@turningpointsimulations.com if you're unsure how many more you need to acquire.  That includes you folks who tried the “Honeymoon Offer” and went no further, or anyone to cherry picked 4 or 5 titles along the way.  You can still fill out your 20 game collection (probably using the PICK 2 boxed) and get WAAM free.

3.)  Anyone who has purchased at least 12 of the boxed games from directly from TPS (even if you’re starting with 0 today and immediately purchase 12) is also eligible to purchase (not a freebie) a copy of WAAM from us (while supplies last) that can be added in with your next purchase. Write us for details as shipping and prices will vary, depending on where you are.

While no new TPS titles are planned (all good books must come to an end), TPS will continue to maintain support for, and sell, our existing titles through the website. We may publish small expansion kits for them in future issues of our sister publication, Against the Odds, so check that out if you’re not familiar with ATO.

Last, we've greatly enjoyed bringing this series to life and sharing it with the community. Thank you for your trust in our team. Your support over the years proved the true "turning point" for TPS!

Best,

Steve Rawling, Publisher, Turning Point Simulations
